CZ Loko upgrades locomotives for better freight efficiency

The modernization project involves two locomotives operating on 1520 mm gauge tracks in Eastern Slovakia. These tracks, located near the Ukrainian border, are vital for regional logistics and international freight.

The first locomotive was modernized in December 2024, and the second will follow soon. These updates are expected to enhance Bulk Transshipment Slovakia’s (BTS) efficiency in freight operations.

CZ Loko strengthens BTS logistics with modernized locomotives

Established in 2007, BTS specializes in transporting goods on 1435 mm and 1520 mm gauge tracks. Its main terminal in Čierna nad Tisou serves as a key transfer point between different track gauges. This terminal facilitates cargo transport between Ukraine and Slovakia, boosting trade and regional connectivity.

The EffiShunter 1600 locomotives provide improved performance and reliability for challenging routes. CZ Loko’s modernization expertise ensures these locomotives meet the high demands of international logistics. With these updates, BTS strengthens its position in the freight transportation market.

Previously, CZ Loko successfully delivered an EffiShunter 1000 locomotive to Hungary, showcasing its capabilities in the European market. The upgraded EffiShunter 1600 locomotives will play a pivotal role in improving BTS operations in the region.
