CRRC Unveils New High-Speed Train
01.06.2024
Chinese manufacturer CRRC has unveiled a new high-speed train for the Bishan-Tongliang line in Chongqing, marking another step in the development of the country’s railway technology and infrastructure, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

This train, with a capacity of 420 passengers, consists of four cars and can reach a maximum speed of 160 km/h, with an operational speed of 120 km/h.
TX Logistik Launches New Intermodal Service
It is equipped with permanent magnet traction motors, allowing it to overcome steep gradients of up to 50‰, which is particularly important for the mountainous terrain where Chongqing is located.
An interesting feature of the new train is its ability to operate in driverless mode, highlighting the innovative nature of the project.
The train’s body is made of aluminum alloy, making it lightweight and durable.

Chongqing has long established itself as a center for railway innovations in China.
In 2021, the world’s first driverless monorail line, spanning 15.4 km, was launched here.
Two-car SkyShuttle trains, developed by the Chinese company BYD, operate on this line at speeds of up to 80 km/h.
This project demonstrated high technological capabilities and became an important step in the development of urban infrastructure.
Recent events, such as the launch of the first freight service with high-speed trains of the CRH380BL model on the Zhengzhou-Chongqing line in January 2024, also underscore Chongqing’s significance as an important transportation hub.
Previously, these trains were used exclusively for passenger transportation, indicating the expansion of the functional capabilities of high-speed trains.
The Bishan-Tongliang line train project is another testament to China’s commitment to developing modern and highly efficient transportation systems.
The implementation of such innovations contributes to improving the quality of life for city residents, reducing travel time, and easing the load on road infrastructure.
Moreover, CRRC is actively working on the environmental sustainability of its developments. The use of permanent magnet traction motors and lightweight materials like aluminum alloys helps reduce energy consumption and lower carbon dioxide emissions.

This aligns with global trends towards reducing the environmental impact of transportation.
Thus, the new high-speed train for the Bishan-Tongliang line will not only enhance transportation links between Chongqing districts but also become an important milestone in the development of high-speed rail in China.
This project showcases cutting-edge achievements in engineering and technology that continue to transform the country’s transportation system and strengthen its position on the global stage.
