The project aims to create an efficient and reliable transportation artery for both freight and passenger traffic. Passenger trains will operate at speeds up to 200 km/h, significantly reducing travel time and enhancing passenger comfort.

A crucial part of the project is a $1.5 billion contract signed with a consortium of four companies from the UAE and Oman for the design and construction of the railway.

Additionally, another contract was signed with a consortium comprising Siemens and the Egyptian company Hassan Allam Construction to equip the line with advanced European train control, communication, and power supply systems.

The project will be managed by Hafeet Rail, a joint venture between Etihad Rail and Oman Rail, formerly known as Oman-Etihad Rail. Mubadala Investment, through a support agreement, also backs the project.

The launch of Hafeet Rail marks a new stage in the transportation integration between the UAE and Oman, offering new economic and social opportunities, facilitating trade, and boosting tourism. Improved transport accessibility will also reduce costs and enhance logistical efficiency in the region.

Hafeet Rail underscores the commitment of the UAE and Oman to modernize and develop their transportation infrastructure in line with global standards, demonstrating the importance of regional cooperation in achieving common goals and enhancing the well-being of both populations.

The adoption of advanced technologies and international standards in the design and construction of the railway is a testament to this approach.

Thus, the Hafeet Rail project will not only connect two countries but also serve as a catalyst for economic growth and prosperity in the region, strengthening ties and creating new avenues for cooperation.
