ComfortJet: New High-Speed Train by Czech Railways and Siemens Mobility

At InnoTrans 2024, Czech Railways (ČD), in collaboration with Siemens Mobility and Škoda Group, unveiled the innovative ComfortJet passenger train, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

This high-speed train, developed on the Siemens Mobility Vectrain platform, can reach speeds of up to 230 km/h.

The contract between ČD and the consortium provides for the delivery of 180 cars, forming 20 trains.
Each train will include six second-class cars, two first-class cars, and a dining car.
The cars are being assembled at the Škoda Vagonka plant in Ostrava. The new trains will operate on both domestic and international routes, including the Prague-Berlin route starting on September 29, 2024.
ComfortJet is equipped with modern amenities, including air conditioning systems, electrical and USB outlets for device charging. The second-class cars accommodate 456 passengers with 2+2 seating, while the first-class offers 99 seats arranged in a 2+1 configuration.

The train is also designed to meet the needs of passengers with reduced mobility, providing space for three wheelchairs and multifunctional areas for carrying 12 bicycles and large luggage.
ComfortJet’s traction is provided by Siemens Vectron locomotives, available in both single-system and multi-system versions, ensuring operational flexibility on various routes.
