The CN Rail derailment in northern Minnesota is under investigation after about 18 rail cars left the tracks near Warroad, Minn., early Saturday morning, as reported by CBC News.

CN Rail derailment near Warroad

Canadian National Railway said the cars derailed in various positions near Warroad, just south of the Manitoba-Minnesota border, at around 4:50 a.m. on Saturday. Ashley Michnowski, a spokesperson for CN, provided the details in a statement sent to CBC News.

Warroad is located along Lake of the Woods and is about 170 kilometres southeast of Winnipeg.

Safety response and investigation

Michnowski said there were no reported injuries, fires or leaks, and no crossings were impacted.

CN crews and local first responders were at the scene on Saturday afternoon. The cause of the derailment remains under investigation.
