Cleveland redevelopment plan targets The Midline
16.05.2026
Cleveland redevelopment plan The Midline has been unveiled by the city and the Site Readiness for Good Jobs Fund. The initiative covers more than 350 acres along a historic Norfolk Southern Railway corridor. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The plan, described on The Midline project site, focuses on long-unused industrial property on Cleveland’s near east side. It would turn fragmented and underused sites into a connected district. That district would combine employment space, a public greenway and a community asset while linking major job centers.

Parcels along the NS corridor would be consolidated into a unified, investment-ready area for advanced manufacturing, research and development, and related industries. As Progressive Railroading reported, the sites are near two Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority rail stations and interstate highways. They are also within a 30-minute commute for nearly 900,000 workers.
The initiative calls for at least 1.5 million square feet of new industrial and commercial space.
“This is one of the most ambitious neighborhood revitalization efforts Cleveland has undertaken,” said Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb in a press release.
City officials said the Midline is intended to shorten redevelopment timelines by bringing scattered parcels together into one district. They also said the project aims to expand access to jobs, transit and neighborhood amenities.
