These record-breaking figures were achieved not only by a rise in domestic passengers but also by increased interest from international tourists. Their numbers grew by 30%, reaching 3.66 million people.

Increased Capacity and Service Improvement

To meet the growing demand, China’s railways increased the number of daily services by 7.4%, while the number of tourist trains rose by 30%. Routes with more frequent stops, offering convenience to passengers in remote areas, are also being expanded.

The China-Laos route continues to gain popularity. In the first quarter of 2025, 85,000 passengers were transported on this route, a 32.2% increase compared to last year.

Furthermore, cargo transport volumes grew to 970 million tons, confirming the steady development of infrastructure and China’s growing role in global logistics. Investments in fixed assets during the first quarter amounted to 131.2 billion yuan (approximately $18.2 billion USD).

These achievements highlight China’s railways’ continued growth, strengthening their position in international transportation while ensuring a stable increase in both passenger and cargo traffic.
