China Boosts Trade Efficiency With New Sea-Rail Freight Route
24.05.2025
China has launched its first single-document sea-rail freight service, enhancing trade flow between South Korea, inland China, and Central Asia through a faster, unified logistics process. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The cargo originated in Incheon, South Korea, and arrived at Yantai Port after a 14-hour sea journey. Rapid customs processing and rail loading enabled its dispatch to Kashgar on May 14.

Under the new system, a single freight document covers both maritime and rail segments. This eliminates repetitive paperwork and improves coordination between transport operators.
By simplifying procedures, China has reduced the transit time to Kyrgyzstan from 25 days to just 12. The streamlined process also minimizes errors and delays common in traditional logistics models.
In the past, smaller shipments from Japan or South Korea faced delays due to fragmented contracts and cargo consolidation issues. Businesses often struggled with long wait times and poor cargo tracking.
Today, thanks to integrated operations, cargo is unloaded, cleared, and reloaded within an hour. It leaves the port by train within three hours, according to Yu Qunjie of Yantai Railway Station.
