CapMetro Red Line maintenance contract awarded to RGPC

CapMetro Red Line maintenance contract has been awarded to Rio Grande Pacific Corp. (RGPC) for the commuter-rail route linking Leander and Austin.

CapMetro Red Line maintenance contract covers corridor work

Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority (CapMetro), based in Austin, Texas, selected RGPC for a long-term maintenance agreement⁠ on the Red Line. The work applies to a 32-mile section of CapMetro’s railroad corridor.

The authority said RGPC will provide maintenance-of-way and signal system services through its subsidiaries, including Pacific Transit Group and Rio Grande Pacific Technology⁠. The contract also covers the equipment, parts, supplies, qualified personnel, administrative support, regulatory compliance work and management services needed for the assignment.

Track, bridge and signal systems included

The scope includes inspection and maintenance of track, right of way, bridges and signal systems on the commuter-rail line between Leander and Austin⁠.

RGPC CEO Richard Bertel said the company would bring its freight and commuter rail background to the contract.

“We look forward to bringing our considerable freight and commuter rail experience to this procurement and providing seamless and professional engineering and signal practices and knowledge to CapMetro,”

Bertel added:

“We see this as an opportunity to provide a true partner to CapMetro while also expanding RGPC’s footprint in the transit operations and maintenance marketplace.”
