AUSTRALIA: Benalla and Euroa train services will resume on 31 August, restoring passenger stops in regional Victoria while Inland Rail precinct construction continues at both stations.

Passenger stops return before precinct completion

Passenger trains have bypassed Benalla and Euroa in recent months while Inland Rail and construction partner John Holland installed new tracks and platforms and changed access around both precincts. According to the official service update, crews have prepared one side of each station for passengers while work continues elsewhere.

At Benalla, trains will use the new west platform on the Railway Place side. Passengers will reach it through a new underpass with ramps and stairs. The existing V/Line station building will temporarily close, with ticketing, toilets, parking and a coach pickup and drop-off zone provided in interim facilities off Railway Place.

At Euroa, services will return to the upgraded platform in front of the old station building. A new Railway Street car park will open with 50 spaces, including two accessible bays and four short-stay spaces for drop-off and pickup. Coaches will continue using McGuinness Street until the end of 2026.

Inland Rail works continue into 2027

The wider Benalla station modification includes moving the track from the Mackellar Street side to Railway Place, removing the existing Station Approach Road overpass, building the new platform and improving pedestrian access. Construction at the site began in June 2025.

At Euroa station, the project includes a new Anderson Street vehicle underpass, two pedestrian underpasses and station access via lifts, ramps and stairs. Work there began in May 2025.

The complete Benalla and Euroa station precincts are scheduled to open in the new year. Across Victoria, the Beveridge–Albury project is upgrading 262 km of existing railway at 12 locations to provide clearance for double-stacked freight trains, with Inland Rail construction in the state scheduled for completion in late 2027.
