The freight carrier has converted its G1206 model diesel locomotive to run on biodiesel derived from vegetable oils, manufactured by Vossloh in the early 2000s, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The FAME locomotive is equipped with a Caterpillar engine generating 1500 kW. It’s claimed that the use of biofuel will reduce CO2 emissions by 84%.

Meanwhile, in May 2023, Dutch carrier Arriva stated that trains previously converted to biofuel continue to operate on diesel due to the high cost of alternative fuel.
