Azerbaijan Expands Its Locomotive Fleet

The new diesel locomotives will operate along the North–South international corridor and other high-demand routes with increasing freight volumes.

Authorities are also considering the purchase of 14 additional locomotives. This move addresses growing traffic and aims to improve logistics reliability.

Azerbaijan Advances Green Transport Goals

Simultaneously, the country is investing in sustainable transport. The Asian Development Bank approved a $1.25 million grant to support railway decarbonization.

The funding will help replace diesel traction with electric alternatives and implement eco-friendly infrastructure standards, reinforcing the sector’s long-term development.
