The terminal keeps a direct Port of Savannah Garden City Terminal connection through daily CSX service, linking ARP’s inland operation with the coastal port’s Garden City Terminal.

GPA officials said in a Georgia Ports Authority press release that each container shipped by rail between the two terminals eliminates about 710 roundtrip truck miles. The agency also pointed to the roughly 1,000-container year-over-year gain as a sign of the inland terminal’s growth as a regional logistics hub.

Appalachian Regional Port container record supports continued growth

Beyond November, the numbers show continued momentum. ARP handled more than 46,000 containers in fiscal-year 2025, which ended June 30. Through the first five months of FY2026, the terminal has handled 20,030 containers, a 20% increase versus the same period a year ago.
