In 2024, Amtrak invested $4.5 billion in its key development projects. Now, the company repairs old bridges, tunnels, and 19th-century structures.

Amtrak Upgrades Stations and Trains
The company will enhance accessibility at over 380 stations across its network. Also, major terminals await reconstruction and modernization in coming years.
Amtrak will refresh rolling stock serving over 500 cities in 46 states. The average train age hits 40 years, but changes are underway.
Soon, 111 new trains, including Airo express units from Siemens Mobility in California, will arrive. Plus, they’ll acquire 125 powerful locomotives for better efficiency.
The company will sign a contract to replace hundreds of long-distance train cars. This will improve passenger comfort and service reliability nationwide.
Amtrak backs U.S. manufacturers, sourcing up to 99% of components domestically. So, in 2024, it strengthened ties with American firms.
