Amtrak Expands Phase VII Design Beyond Locomotives

Previously exclusive to locomotives, the Phase VII livery now debuts on passenger cars, starting with the Iroquois River. The Viewliner I sleeping car, painted at the Beech Grove facility, is already in Chicago.

The livery features dark blue and red tones separated by white arcs, creating a sleek and modern look. Amtrak added accent colors—red for first class, light blue for business, and green for coach—to help customers navigate platforms easily.

Amtrak Plans to Transition Fleet to Phase VII Livery

Amtrak aims to implement the Phase VII livery across its national fleet while retaining specialty designs for Acela. By next year’s end, 44 cars will carry the new design.
