Amtrak ridership record fuels Milwaukee Thanksgiving rush
28.11.2025
Amtrak ridership record of more than 34 million passengers over the past year comes as Thanksgiving travelers pack Milwaukee Intermodal Station on Thursday, Nov. 27. As Railway Supply notes, this record comes just as an Amtrak spokesman says this year could turn into the busiest yet as holiday demand builds.
This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Amtrak ridership record and Thanksgiving travel in Milwaukee
Last Thanksgiving, about 13,000 people passed through Milwaukee’s downtown and airport stations, and Amtrak expects to beat that total this year. The record figures Amtrak has reported nationally are also summarized in its “Year of Records” update. Spokesman Marc Magliari recalls an old company slogan — “there’s something about a train that’s magic” — and says he still feels that way whenever he rides. On the train back to Chicago this afternoon, he points out, he can get work done or even try to take a nap, things he definitely should not do while driving.

Travel advice for Milwaukee Intermodal and airport stations
With snow in the forecast, the agency is urging passengers on Amtrak Thanksgiving travel in Milwaukee to plan ahead. The push to prepare travelers comes in the same year that Amtrak’s record ridership has drawn national coverage from outlets like Reuters. Even so, officials emphasize that there is no need to arrive extremely early; they recommend that travelers reach the station around 30 minutes before departure, whether they are using Milwaukee Intermodal or the city’s airport station.
