Amtrak Boston service and remaining delays

By 9 a.m. ET, Amtrak’s online schedule showed all planned southbound departures listed as on time. Also, northbound trains from New Haven were shown as operating, although three still had delays.

The disruption began at about 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 24. Debris from a highway onramp blocked tracks in Cranston, R.I. Amtrak canceled all Boston-bound and Boston-originating trains for roughly 12 hours. Then, it operated limited service through the rest of Saturday.

Bridge debris and track reopening

WCVB-TV reported that two of the three tracks through the area had reopened. Still, the remaining track was expected to reopen later that morning.

The bridge connects northbound State Route 10 to northbound Interstate 95. It was reported to be in poor condition in a 2025 inspection. It is also scheduled for demolition and replacement as part of an upcoming construction project.
