The new options became available last week for passengers traveling between Boston and Virginia. The update covers breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and beverages.

According to Amtrak, the changes are intended to give customers more choice. The operator says the Northeast Regional serves more than 12 million passengers each year.

New food and beverage options

Breakfast now includes a warm sticky bun, along with flavored syrups for coffee.

For lunch and dinner, Amtrak’s popular Turkey Havarti sandwich stays on the menu. It is now joined by several new items. The additions include Chicken Salad on Pretzel Sliders, a Buffalo Chicken Wrap and a Curried Chickpea Wrap.

Snacks and drinks on Northeast Regional trains

Passengers looking for snacks or beverages also have new choices. The updated selection includes Poppi Prebiotic Soda in Strawberry Lemon, Nerds Gummy Clusters, Barebells Protein Bars and La Colombe Vanilla Draft Latte, as Railway Supply reported.

Also, Butter Cake is now available on Northeast Regional trains. It was already offered on Amtrak’s Long Distance services.
