The service would run from ten stations, including Kirkwood, Washington, and Gateway Station, providing more travel convenience for commuters. The travel time between the two cities is normally five and a half hours, while being a fast, comfortable mode of travel compared to car travel.

Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission (MHTC) earlier sanctioned a $1.7 million disbursement to finance a long stretch of service. The disbursement allows Amtrak to sustain capacity for tripppers journeying for Kansas City games during the tournament.
