State officials confirmed a $150 million investment in a pedestrian walkway linking MacArthur Airport’s North Terminal to the LIRR station in Ronkonkoma. Governor Kathy Hochul announced this project on February 12, highlighting its economic and transit benefits.

“Long Islanders need reliable, modern transit options that enhance daily commutes and economic opportunities,” Hochul stated. “This project creates high-paying jobs while transforming travel across the region.”

The investment builds on a $40 million commitment to the North Terminal, further positioning MacArthur Airport as a key transportation hub. The project will unlock 48 acres of commercial space, attracting businesses and increasing tourism.

Amtrak to Ronkonkoma: A Game-Changer for Commuters

Suffolk County officials confirmed that Amtrak will introduce three daily round trips between Washington, DC, New York City, and Ronkonkoma. This expansion is part of the Northeast Regional service, integrating stops at Jamaica (Queens) and Hicksville.

To support this development, track, station, and infrastructure upgrades will ensure a seamless commuter experience. Officials anticipate these improvements will make Long Island more accessible and convenient for travelers.
