Amtrak and Metro-North Services Delayed by Major Power Failure

Amtrak and Metro-North commuters faced widespread delays Friday morning after a major electrical failure halted trains on a key corridor in Connecticut the evening before. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

MTA crews worked overnight and managed to restore limited service by early morning. Two of the four tracks resumed operations, but service remained restricted and delays persisted throughout peak hours.

The first Metro-North departure from New Haven left 15 minutes late and skipped some scheduled stops. Passengers reported ongoing delays averaging 15 minutes, even after the morning rush ended.

Amtrak and Metro-North teams remained on-site through the day, focusing on stabilizing the grid and addressing the electrical system outage. Speed restrictions and congestion affected trains between Stamford and New Haven.
