According to the terms of the request, the trains are expected to reach speeds of up to 350 km/h and be serviced for 30 years.

The first two trains are planned to be received by 2028 for testing, with the remaining four by the end of 2030.

This project is supported by a federal grant of $3.1 billion that CHSRA received in December 2023.

It’s one of several high-speed rail projects in the USA funded by the federal government, with a total grant amount of $8.2 billion.

The Merced to Bakersfield line is part of the California high-speed rail network project, aiming to connect major cities in the state.

Phase 1 involves constructing the Los Angeles to San Francisco route spanning 795 km.

Phase 2 extends the line to San Diego in the south and Sacramento in the north, increasing the total length to 1249 km.

Currently, 192 km of tracks have been built, with plans to increase this to 275 km by the end of the year.

The construction of the entire network is scheduled to be completed by 2033.
