According to operational data, the Danube ports handled 11.5 million tons of cargo in the first five months of 2023

Yuriy Litvin, Chairman of the State Enterprise “AMPU,” announced that the Danube ports have shown impressive results. In 2022, a total of 16 million tons of cargo were handled, and a new record of 11.5 million tons was set in the first five months of 2023, as reported by the railway journal Railway Supply.
One of AMPU’s priorities is to ensure the operation of the ports of Odesa within the framework of the Black Sea Grain Initiative. However, the registration process for incoming fleets is hindered or delayed by representatives of the Russian Federation in the Joint Coordinating Center (JCC), which complicates port operations.
This has a negative impact on the operation of the grain corridor. Therefore, the Danube ports remain the only reliable maritime gateways for Ukraine.

Currently, companies are actively working to increase the cargo handling capacity of the Danube cluster ports by introducing new berths, exploring additional cargo flows, and optimizing operations.
Close cooperation with the Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine and the business sector has helped attract approximately $97 million for the development of port infrastructure in the Danube ports in 2022 and the first quarter of 2023.
It is projected that this figure may exceed $100 million by the end of 2023.
