The construction of Brightline West high-speed rail has received a $3 billion grant, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) provided the funds to the Nevada Department of Transportation. This project will connect Nevada with California, with 25 pairs of trains running daily. The trains will travel at speeds of up to 320 km/h.

President Joe Biden showed support for this project in December 2023. Now, construction is moving forward at a faster pace. The project is part of Amtrak’s “Intercity Passenger Rail” program. This initiative aims to improve travel between cities in the U.S. and will shorten the travel time between these states.
Siemens Mobility will supply 10 high-speed trains for Brightline West. The trains, called American Pioneer 220, will be delivered by 2028. These trains are based on the Velaro Novo platform and will reach speeds of up to 354 km/h.
Each train will carry up to 450 passengers. Siemens also plans to build a new factory in Horseheads, New York, where these trains will be made.
The Brightline West high-speed rail project will reduce carbon emissions and increase transport efficiency. It’s a significant step toward greener and faster travel in the U.S.
