The U.S. government is allocating nearly $200 million to Amtrak for the improvement of the Northeast Corridor and the Gulf Coast, as reported by the railway portal Railway Supply, citing railadvent.

The U.S. government has allocated approximately $200 million to the railroad operator Amtrak and its partners to support four projects in the Northeast Corridor.

Liveries for the New Train Fleet

The funds were provided by the Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements (CRISI) program and will support four projects in the Northeast Corridor, spanning eight states and the District of Columbia, as well as Gulf Coast states.

  • Gulf Coast Corridor Improvement Project – $178,435,333.
  • Northeast Corridor (NEC) Program – up to $8,800,000.
  • Mississippi-Louisiana Grade Crossings Improvement Project – up to $1,826,000.
