Russian Railways plan to purchase 188 shunting locomotives in 2021 (+ 22.1% by 2020)

188 shunting locomotives are planned to be purchased by Russian Railways in 2021

In total, over the past 5 years, Russian Railways has purchased about 800 shunting locomotives, reports Railway Supply magazine with reference to tzdjournal.

This is about 26-27% of the total order of the company for a new mainline and shunting traction for this period. For example, in July, General Director of Russian Railways Oleg Belozyorov said that in 5 years the holding bought about 3 thousand new locomotives worth more than 426 billion rubles.

Russian Railways accepted the test results of new double-deck cars

Earlier, Deputy General Director – Head of Traction Directorate of Russian Railways Oleg Valinsky said that as of August, RZD’s total orders for locomotives in 2021 was 516 units, but the traction directorate has submitted an investment application for the purchase of another 20 locomotives for BAM.

This is higher than in the beginning of the year, when it was planned to purchase 500 units of traction rolling stock at the end of the year.
