Western Railway (WR) trial runs on the Ahmedabad–Mumbai Central section

For this phase, the Western Railway (WR) trial runs are scheduled on the Ahmedabad–Mumbai Central section. Officials said the rake is operating between Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Mumbai Central, and back, as part of the Confirmatory Oscillograph Car Run (COCR) carried out to evaluate the train under trial conditions.

Western Railway’s chief public relations officer, Vineet Abhishek, told PTI that the 22-coach Amrit Bharat non-AC push-pull train reached Mumbai at 4.18 pm after leaving Ahmedabad at around 10.30 am. He added that the train is scheduled to depart for Ahmedabad on Saturday at 9 am.

Confirmatory Oscillograph Car Run (COCR) led by RDSO

Officials said the Confirmatory Oscillograph Car Run (COCR) is being conducted by the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO). Under the approved programme, uninterrupted paths were provided during daylight hours so the train could reach the maximum permissible speed while still observing all permanent and temporary speed restrictions.

The aim, according to officials, is to validate riding quality along with safety and performance parameters for the push-pull configuration, ahead of regular operations on busy corridors.

22 LHB non-AC coaches with HOG and EOG in push-pull configuration

The trial rake comprises 22 LHB non-AC coaches equipped with HOG (Head On Generation) and EOG (End On Generation). Officials said instrumentation and fitness checks were completed at Sabarmati before the run.

Support for the trial is being provided by Western Railway’s mechanical, electrical and signalling departments, officials said, and security arrangements have been made to safeguard the instruments installed on the rake.

Amrit Bharat trains are a new category of non-air-conditioned, high-capacity passenger trains introduced by Indian Railways to provide affordable and faster long-distance travel, with features outlined in a Press Information Bureau release.

The trains are designed with modern amenities, improved seating, better luggage space, LED lighting, CCTV cameras, and enhanced safety systems.
