Regional passenger operator Koleje Mazowieckie has signed a deal with Stadler: 11 FLIRT trains for Koleje Mazowieckie will be delivered under a contract worth PLN 711 million (about EUR 168.8 million), as stated in a Stadler release. The agreement covers 11 five-car FLIRT electric multiple units, along with their maintenance and staff training.

Assembly is planned at Stadler’s plant in Siedlce, Poland. For the operator, the order marks the final step in a broader procurement programme that предусматривает purchasing 75 FLIRT trains in total for more than PLN 4.8 billion. Of that volume, 64 units are being ordered with European Union co-financing amounting to PLN 1.5 billion — the same figures are also referenced by Koleje Mazowieckie.

According to Stadler, production is proceeding to schedule, with 25 trains currently at various stages of manufacturing and testing. The first train from this batch is planned to enter service in the Masovian Voivodeship in April 2026. Deliveries are due to be completed by the end of 2027; once that happens, Koleje Mazowieckie’s FLIRT fleet will reach 146 units, making it the largest such fleet in Poland.

Stadler and Koleje Mazowieckie: nearly 20 years of cooperation

Stadler has been working with Koleje Mazowieckie for almost two decades. The first 10 FLIRT trains, delivered in 2006, are still running on regional routes, including the Warsaw–Siedlce corridor, as previously noted by Railway Supply. Between 2020 and 2023, Stadler built a further 61 trains of the same family for the operator.

FLIRT trains: specifications and onboard equipment

The five-car FLIRT EMUs feature aluminium-alloy car bodies and are designed for speeds of up to 160 km/h. They are described as having low energy consumption and are equipped with air conditioning, CCTV, passenger information systems and Wi-Fi access points. Each train meets modern safety, accessibility and comfort requirements and can carry 600 passengers, including 279 seated.
