Railway Accident in Spain

Four people died, and three others were injured on Sunday evening in a railway accident in Catalonia, Spain, as reported by emergency services, as reported by the railway portal Railway Supply.
The accident occurred when a group of seven people attempted to cross the railway tracks in Montmelo, approximately 20 kilometers north of Barcelona, according to Catalonia’s emergency services on X (formerly Twitter).
According to Spanish media, a music festival was taking place near the accident site the day before, as part of a Catalan holiday celebration.

Emergency services dispatched nine ambulances and a helicopter to the scene.
“We searched for other possible victims near the train, but we did not find any, and we transported the injured to ambulances,” said regional firefighters on the same social media platform.
Authorities expressed condolences to the families of the deceased.
Raquel Sánchez, the Minister of Transport for Madrid, expressed condolences to the families of the victims.
Pere Aragonès, the head of the regional government of Catalonia, said he was “completely devastated” by the tragedy. According to him, the police are investigating the causes of the accident.
Around 170 passengers were on board the suburban train, but they did not require medical assistance.
However, following the fatal accident, railway traffic in the area has been suspended.
In June 2010, a high-speed train struck a group of people crossing the tracks to reach a beach in Castelldefels, killing 12 of them.
