During the first eight months of 2023, the freight turnover in transit via Kazakhstan’s railways reached 35.8 billion tonne-kilometers, as reported by the railway portal Railway Supply.

This is 7.16 billion tonne-kilometers, or 25% more than the previous year, according to Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ).

The volume of container transit shipments on the Kazakh railways increased by 26% over the year.

Additionally, the national carrier reports that since the beginning of 2023, 1.7 million tons of cargo have been transported via the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.

This is 781 thousand tons, or 85% more than the previous year.
