A shipment of 19 six-axle ES30ACi Evolution locomotives from Wabtec has arrived at the Port of Alexandria, as reported by the railway journal Railway Supply.

The locomotives are equipped with a 12-cylinder engine with a power output of 2.4 MW, as well as systems that provide axle-by-axle traction control and electrodynamic braking.

They are designed to operate at a maximum speed of up to 140 km/h.

Supply of 130 Citadis trams by Alstom

The contract for the delivery of 100 locomotives of this type was signed with the Egyptian National Railways (ENR) by the company in the autumn of 2021.

The purchase is financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

After fulfilling this order, the ENR fleet will have over 300 Wabtec locomotives, including those previously supplied by another American company – General Electric (acquired by Wabtec in 2019).
