Nationwide High-Speed Rail Express Parcel Delivery Launch by JD Logistics
VR Group has announced plans to purchase shunting locomotives and issued a tender for suppliers. In its request for proposals, the Finnish company states that it is interested in diesel locomotives powered by biodiesel, as well as hybrid machines.
These hybrid locomotives should include technologies powered by hydrogen fuel cells, batteries, or overhead lines. Importantly, the customer requires locomotives with a track gauge of 1524 mm and remote control capability.
This request from VR Group stems from a need to acquire equipment capable of hauling trains weighing up to 2,500 tons. The expected maximum speed for these locomotives should reach 120 km/h, which will enhance operational efficiency. While VR Group has not disclosed the exact number of locomotives required, it emphasizes the importance of eco-friendliness.
