The Finnish company purchased the trains from the joint venture of Russian Railways (RZhD) and VR Group, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

VR Group has acquired the 'Allegro' trains

This decision was prompted by RZhD’s failure to meet financial obligations, including loans and taxes, leading to the suspension of services in March 2022.

In June 2023, VR Group acquired Karelian Trains’ loans, preventing the joint venture from bankruptcy.

The plan is to introduce modern SM6 trains into operation by 2025, facilitating the growth of domestic long-distance transportation in Finland.

However, after a year and a half of inactivity, technical inspections and repair work are necessary for the successful deployment of the trains.
