29.01.2024
For four years, over half of the cars produced at the Volkswagen plant in the Spanish city of Pamplona have been shipped by rail, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
In 2023, this percentage decreased to 51.9%, slightly below the 2022 figure.
Challenges with railway infrastructure, a shortage of train operators, as well as locomotives and wagons, hinder surpassing the historical mark of 56.3% set in 2020.
In 2023, the plant shipped 273,223 cars, with 53% delivered by rail, including 30% to the port of Barcelona, 9.1% to Germany, and 12.8% to the coastal city of Santander.
