Children and young adults can now explore Canada with free or discounted VIA Rail tickets this summer, thanks to the government’s Canada Strong Pass initiative. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The Canada Strong Pass offers Canadians and visitors free and discounted access to top national attractions between June 20 and September 2, 2025, making travel more affordable this summer

The program, part of the Liberal Party’s 2025 election platform, encourages domestic travel and cultural experiences. It allows kids and teens aged 17 and under to ride VIA Rail trains for free in Economy class when accompanied by a paying adult. To claim the offer, use the code CANADAFAM when booking online.

Young adults aged 18 to 24 can save 25% on all VIA Rail Economy fares with the discount code CANADA1824. Valid ID confirming age is required when boarding, and all bookings must be made online to activate the codes.

VIA Rail Promotes Youth Travel Nationwide

The travel period runs from June 20 through September 2, 2025. Refunds are available for qualifying bookings made before the launch. Passengers can submit requests via VIA Rail’s online form.

This initiative goes beyond transportation. The Canada Strong Pass also grants free access to national museums and galleries for those under 18, along with reduced camping fees in federal parks.

VIA Rail Supports Cultural Exploration with Strong Pass

By reducing travel costs, VIA Rail and the Canadian government aim to promote national unity and local tourism. These measures make it easier for young Canadians to explore the country’s vast geography and cultural landmarks.

So, with summer approaching, families and young travelers have a cost-effective way to experience more of Canada by train.
