Although partial service resumed Tuesday, delays continue to affect schedules throughout Wednesday. VIA Rail and CN officials are actively working to restore normal operations as soon as possible.
Severe weather conditions contributed to the freight train derailment, VIA Rail announced online. Heavy congestion, beyond VIA Rail’s control, forced the cancellation of multiple scheduled trains today.
Which VIA Rail Trains Are Cancelled Today?
VIA Rail’s website currently lists 15 train cancellations affecting key intercity routes. The disrupted services include departures between Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, and Quebec City.
The full list of cancelled trains includes VIA 22, 33, 38, and 39 between Ottawa and Quebec City. Additional suspensions impact VIA 40, 44, 641, and 643, which operate between Toronto and Ottawa.
Further cancellations include VIA 50, 52, 60, and 62 on the Toronto-Montreal corridor. Windsor-to-Toronto services VIA 70 and 72 are also affected by today’s disruptions.
VIA 84 from Sarnia to Toronto is cancelled, though alternative transportation is available. Affected passengers are eligible for full refunds or travel credits for future trips.
