supply of Alstom electric locomotives

According to the document, it is planned to supply 130 Alstom electric locomotives, 80 two-system and 50 single-system. The new vehicles are to replace the VL-80 electric locomotives, some of which are more than half a century old, reports Railway Supply magazine

“This is not just a purchase – it is important that it will actually be a joint production with 35% localization of production in Ukraine,” said Arsen Avakov, chairman of the Mixed Ukrainian-French Commission for Economic Cooperation.

He noted that enterprises of the Zaporozhye and Dnepropetrovsk regions are being considered for the main localization. But in general, dozens of Ukrainian enterprises from different regions of Ukraine will be involved in the project. And Ukrainian equipment will be installed in the first Alstom locomotive. Thus, it is expected to create 7000 new jobs.

“The project costs 882.5 million euros. At the same time, it is 85% covered by a French loan (including 350 million euros in direct treasury loans worth approximately 0.4% per annum). Its term is 10 years, including a grace period without payments – 3 years! “- emphasized Arsen Avakov.
