President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev participated in the opening ceremony of the Kazakh transport and logistics center in the Chinese city of Xi’an via teleconference, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The capacity of the freight terminal, built by the Kazakhstan Railways in collaboration with the Chinese company Xian Free Trade Port Construction and Operation, is 66.5 thousand TEUs per year.
Kazakh authorities expect that its establishment will significantly reduce delivery times for goods between Kazakhstan and China, and also strengthen Kazakhstan’s position as a transit hub.
