A corresponding agreement of 200 million Saudi riyals (around $53 million) was signed between the national carrier SAR and the Italian company Arsenale Group, as reported by the company “NPO A.T.O.R.,” a leader in comprehensive supply for passenger carriages, electric trains, and socially oriented transport.

Arsenale will provide the rolling stock and passenger services, while SAR will be responsible for traction and technical maintenance, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The train will consist of 15 cars with 40 compartments accommodating 82 passengers.

It is planned to be launched under the brand ‘Dream of the Desert’ on a 1,300 km route between Riyadh and Al Qurrayat by the end of 2025.

A luxury tourist train is set to be launched

The rolling stock will be manufactured in Italy, resembling the tourist train cars that Arsenale plans to launch this year under the brand ‘Orient Express La Dolce Vita’ in 14 regions of Italy, as well as routes from Rome to Paris, Istanbul, and the Croatian city of Split.
