Four new American diesel-electric locomotives of the SD70ACe/LW-4101 model have been delivered as part of a contract for 16 units signed last year, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

These locomotives have a speed of up to 120 km/h and are equipped with advanced power transmission systems and powerful engines.

They are also fitted with onboard remote monitoring and diagnostic systems, ensuring efficient management and maintenance.

These locomotives will be used to haul coal trains along the Tavan Tolgoi – Gashuun Sukhait railway, linking a major coal deposit to China.

The delivery of Progress Rail locomotives for this project demonstrates a comprehensive approach to modernizing Mongolia’s railway infrastructure.
