In 2023, investments in the development of transportation and warehousing in Kazakhstan reached a historic record, amounting to 2.5 trillion tenge ($5.61 billion USD), exceeding the previous year’s level by 40.3%, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
Financing for freight rail transport tripled, reaching 173.3 billion tenge, while funding for passenger land transport also tripled to 114.3 billion tenge.
In Kazakhstan, 44 new passenger cars have been put into operation
Pipelines received the largest share of investments – 247.6 billion tenge, which is 1.9 times more than the previous figure.
About 52% of investments (1.3 trillion tenge) come from the own resources of large companies, including the national railways (KTZ).
The government aims to expand the transportation network to improve international trade and logistics, and in this context, KTZ has developed a program to increase the efficiency of freight transportation.
The Almaty railway junction will serve as a pilot for the implementation of new technologies.
The goal is to accelerate train processing, increase throughput capacity, and train speed.
It is planned to optimize the technological processes of station and crew operations, as well as to build a sorting yard with a small-capacity hill.
