Hyperloop Test Track Construction to Begin in Italy
11.06.2025
In Italy’s Veneto region, construction will soon begin on the first Hyperloop test track—spanning 10 km between Padua and Venice—following completion of a full feasibility study. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The initiative is led by a consortium including HyperloopTT, Webuild, Leonardo, and Hyperloop Italia. Work is set to launch under the Hyper Transfer Hyperloop program, which began in 2013.

Developers expect the capsules to eventually reach speeds of up to 1200 km/h. The new system will be designed for both passenger and freight transport.
Hyperloop Tests Expected to Run Until 2030
The Hyperloop test segment will operate for several years. However, initial infrastructure is expected to be in service by 2030.
This milestone supports the integration of advanced transportation systems into Italy’s and Europe’s infrastructure. The project has already received official support.
Hyperloop Development Also Advancing in the Netherlands
Beyond Italy, Hyperloop technology is progressing in the Netherlands. The company Hardt Hyperloop has completed a 420-meter vacuum tube test line.
In September, the first test run took place in the city of Veendam, where the capsule reached a speed of 30 km/h—demonstrating the system’s technical feasibility.
European nations are actively investing in Hyperloop, aiming to speed up mobility and improve logistics across the region.
