On February 10, Ukrzaliznytsia completed the acceptance of applications for participation in the tender for the purchase of 30 railcars. This was reported on the official website of the company.

The company received two applications from national manufacturers – Kryukovsky Railcar Building Plant and Dneprovagonremstroy, informs Railway Supply magazine, citing UZ.

As noted in the UZ, the next stage will be prequalification. Within 20 days, the UZ will check the submitted documents. After that, an auction will be held and the winner will be selected. UZ will sign a supply contract no later than December 31, 2023.

“Manufacturing of second-class carriages is a rather narrow segment of carriage building, which is almost not represented in Europe. At the same time, the renewal of this railcars is necessary for the implementation of social transportation, so Ukrzaliznytsia turned to all Ukrainian and international manufacturers with the expected cost of cars formed according to a clear methodology,” the UZ added.

The purchase of second-class carriages is carried out using budgetary funds provided for 2022 as part of the program for updating passenger rolling stock and infrastructure.

New reserved seat cars will have a modern finish. We are talking about LED lighting, sockets with USB ports, an air conditioning system and vacuum toilets. The design speed of such cars will be 160 km/h, and the service life will be at least 30 years.
