USAID Project: First Sets of Railcar Jacks Installed
18.06.2024
The USAID project “Economic Support for Ukraine” continues to actively contribute to the modernization of infrastructure at the Ukraine-Poland border, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
As part of this initiative, the first sets of railcar jacks were installed at the railway crossing point in the Lviv region.

Recently, the project contractor installed three sets of four jacks each, significantly facilitating and speeding up the process of changing bogies on railcars crossing the border.
This installation phase is part of a larger plan that includes the installation of 20 railcar jacks.
This project is of great importance for improving logistics and transportation infrastructure at the Ukraine-Poland border.
Quick and efficient bogie changes on railcars are a crucial factor in speeding up freight transport, reducing time costs, and increasing the capacity of railway crossing points.
The need for such innovations is due to the differences in track gauge widths between Ukraine and European countries, necessitating bogie changes at the border.
The installed jacks will significantly optimize this process, which in turn will positively impact trade and transport flows between Ukraine and Europe.
The USAID “Economic Support for Ukraine” project aims to facilitate economic growth and Ukraine’s integration into European and global markets.
The installation of railcar jacks is just one of many initiatives implemented under this project. The remaining sets of jacks are planned to be installed in early July, completing the first phase of modernization.
Cooperation with USAID enables Ukraine not only to modernize infrastructure but also to attract international investments that contribute to the country’s economic development.
Such projects demonstrate the importance of international support and solidarity in developing and strengthening Ukraine’s infrastructure potential.
