USAID funding has been stopped, so the development of feasibility studies for nine border checkpoints has been suspended.

USAID suspended support for infrastructure projects

The head of the Recovery Agency, Serhiy Sukhomlyn, stated that due to the funding freeze, project development has come to a halt. The agency is now trying to find domestic companies that can carry out the necessary work.

Nine border checkpoints require modernization, but the process has stalled due to the lack of external funding. Even the materials already prepared are not being transferred to the agency, complicating the implementation of reconstruction plans.

Seeking alternative solutions after USAID funding halt

Serhiy Sukhomlyn emphasized that waiting for funding to resume is not an option. The agency is not confident that USAID support will return, so it is actively searching for internal resources to continue the work.

Ukrainian architectural firms have been invited to participate in the development of project documentation for border checkpoint modernization. Two major domestic companies have already agreed to join the project.

For businesses, the current situation has become an opportunity to showcase professional competencies and contribute to the development of national infrastructure. This could positively impact the development of border regions and the country’s economy.

Earlier, it was reported that USAID temporarily suspended funding for all infrastructure projects in Ukraine.
