Partnership between UPMRC and Efkon enhances Kanpur Metro’s efficiency
The UPMRC contracted Efkon India, following a competitive bidding process, to provide world-class E&M solutions. The contractual requirements include verification, engineering, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of E&M, DG sets, ECS, TVS, and BMS systems. The E&M solutions will enhance air quality, safety, and energy efficiency parameters at all three underground stations.
As uninterrupted operation is an important factor, Efkon will install real-time monitoring and stand-by power systems so that the system continues to perform even if the power goes out or if maintenance is being performed. The inclusion of advanced ECS and TVS systems shows that UPMRC values sustainability, comfort, and global safety norms.
UPMRC drives smart and sustainable metro infrastructure
“Corridor 2” will link the major residential as well as industrial areas of Kanpur, reducing traffic congestion and travel time. When operational, the upgraded technology will make commutes even more reliable and eco-friendly.
Therefore, this project illustrates how innovation and sustainability are being integrated by UPMRC in the transportation sector, even in the rapidly growing country of India.
The contract price, as per Metrorail Today, is ₹164 crore, or approximately $18.5 million, with a 60-week period of execution, which is a confirmed duration by India Rail Info.
