Manner Polymers officially launched its 80,000-square-foot plant in late August, run completely by a 15-acre on-site solar panel site. The plant was planned by the company to create a regional standard for renewable-powered manufacturing facilities.

Union Pacific constructed a 1,000-foot rail spur that connects the site to its main line, providing for convenient transportation of raw materials and finished products. It allows for quicker deliveries with reduced truck emissions.

Due to Illinois’ “Reimagining Energy and Vehicles” incentive program, the project was completed by manner Polymers after it invested around $54 million. The plant currently manufactures advanced PVC compounds for electric vehicles, solar panels, and clean technologies among others.
