Union Pacific is expanding its domestic intermodal service by adding two new routes designed to enhance freight efficiency and connectivity across major U.S. markets. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
Union Pacific Launches Pacific Northwest to Chicago Route

Starting Saturday, Union Pacific will provide daily intermodal service from Tacoma, Washington, to its Global 4 terminal in Joliet, Illinois, near Chicago. This complements the existing TacSim-to-Global 2 route.

The new lane reduces dray distances and costs while improving delivery times for businesses in the Southern Chicago warehouse district. It also simplifies distribution beyond Chicago with seamless drayage to other markets.
Union Pacific Introduces Memphis to Dallas Service
Union Pacific recently launched a seven-day service linking Memphis, Tennessee, through Marion, Arkansas, with Dallas, Texas, at the Mesquite terminal. This move aims to shift freight from highways to rail.
By converting truck shipments to rail, Union Pacific helps reduce congestion, cut emissions, and offer more predictable delivery schedules. These routes give customers efficient options for managing supply chains across the South and Midwest.
Union Pacific’s strategy focuses on delivering reliable and competitive services as demand for intermodal transportation grows. These expansions reinforce its role as a key player in North American logistics.
