Ukrzaliznytsia to Modernize Power Supply via 215 MW Tender

Ukrzaliznytsia, in cooperation with the EBRD, has announced an international tender to purchase gas engine power plants with a total capacity of 215 MW. These units will help maintain reliable railway operations even during energy crises. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The project will reduce dependence on diesel traction, preserve transport volumes, and support critical infrastructure. Additionally, the energy will be directed to social facilities across various regions.

Ukrzaliznytsia Secures Funding from EBRD and EU
Before launching the tender, Ukrzaliznytsia held consultations with the Ukrainian government, the EU, the EBRD, and the Energy Community. These discussions helped finalize technical specifications, grant terms, and financing schemes.
A key step was the signing of a guarantee agreement between the EBRD and Ukraine, represented by Deputy Prime Minister for Recovery, Oleksii Kuleba. The agreement provides legal backing for the initiative.
Ukrzaliznytsia Tender Launched via ECEPP Platform
The procurement is officially open on the EBRD’s electronic platform (ECEPP). Bidders can submit proposals until June 16, 2025, in accordance with international standards.
The EBRD has also extended two credit lines: €180 million for gas power units and €300 million for electric locomotives. This confirms Ukrzaliznytsia’s long-term strategy for infrastructure modernization.
By implementing this project, Ukrzaliznytsia will boost its resilience and ensure stable transport services for both passengers and cargo, even in emergency conditions.
