In total, 33 passenger coaches have already been upgraded, showcasing Ukrzaliznytsia’s commitment to improving its fleet. This modernization effort is set to make a long-term impact on the quality of service offered to passengers.
Technical Enhancements and Passenger Comfort
The modernization includes significant improvements in the interior design and technical features of the passenger coaches. Among the key upgrades is the installation of modern air conditioning systems, which are essential during the summer months. Additionally, vacuum toilets have been introduced, improving hygiene standards for passengers during long journeys.
Special attention has been given to passengers with disabilities. Braille signage has been added to assist visually impaired passengers, making it easier for them to navigate. Individual lighting control has also been introduced, allowing passengers to adjust the light to their preferences and improving their travel experience.

Ukrzaliznytsia has also addressed the need for charging electronic devices, installing USB and Type-C ports near each seat. This feature is especially beneficial for modern passengers who rely on their devices during trips.
First Journey with Modernized Passenger Coaches
The newly modernized passenger coaches are now ready for their first journey on the Kyiv–Chernivtsi route as part of train №7/8. Notably, despite the extensive improvements in comfort and technology, ticket prices have remained unchanged. This allows Ukrzaliznytsia to continue offering affordable travel while simultaneously elevating service quality for passengers.
The modernization program is set to continue as planned, with more upgraded passenger coaches expected to be rolled out on various routes over the coming months.
